34 Months too long
Saturday, 9 May 2020 marks 34 months since Nikki was abducted. I currently have zero contact with him or receive news of his state of wellness. Parental Alienation is Child Abuse.
Parental Alienation is a gender neutral form of abuse, it does not discriminate……either a father or a mother could be the perpetrator. It is with this context in mind that tomorrow, being 10 May 2020 and Mother’s Day is all the more special. Sadly it is sometimes only when we realise how destructive a mother can be that we really appreciate those women who have selflessly dedicated themselves to providing their children the very highest forms of love which they have to give…..They are an inspiration to all of us.
Last May, the World Health Organisation officially recognised parental alienation syndrome for the first time, deciding to include it in the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases, which comes into effect at the beginning of 2022. Parental Alienation is characterised by the breakdown of the relationship between a child and one of the child's parents, when there is no valid justification for that breakdown. When parental alienation is found to exist between a parent and child, the alienation is attributed to inappropriate actions and behaviour by the other parent. An alienating parent often shows either narcissistic or borderline (personality disorder) tendencies.
My mother taught me the values of humility, dignity, respect, empathy, compassion and selflessness…..there is no doubt in my mind that if she saw me practicing alienating behaviour or the acts for which I stand accused…..she would have taken me to task no matter how old I was….This is what real mothers do, they teach their children to be decent, happy and fulfilled human beings, through practicing a form love which is not distorted or self-serving.
To all the good Mom’s out there, we love and cherish what you have done for and made of us…….I personally do not have enough years left in my life to repay the debt I owe my Mom for what she has given me.
